In our October meeting the speaker was Shaun Campbell – The Arthur Wharton Foundation
“Inspiring…enthusiastic…personality” were some of the words from audience feedback after this lively talk from Shaun. He clearly identifies closely with the mixed-race all-round sportsman from Ghana who would be unknown today without the Foundation.
Wikipedia says Arthur had a sad pauper's end due to a drink problem later in his career, so it’s only fitting that his grave is now properly marked. For sports enthusiasts and historians, it’s worth looking up the Prince Hassan Pacha 100 Yards Challenge Cup.
And what a journey Shaun himself has had, from professional dance via retail clothing to well-known local personality, networker and fundraiser!
